We had a meeting today with the district librarians. I learned about different web 2.0 tools available for free on the internet. I got an idea to suggest creating a ning with two sixth grade language arts teachers. I should go ahead and mention it soon before I forget! I think it would be a good opportunity to show the other teachers what I can do. At least, what I think I can do 
There was a great demonstration on how to use the various features in our OPAC. Sadly, after a while I think I had information overload & missed out on some key directions. Hopefully, I will figure it out on my own.
I’m trying to stay focused and open minded and not afraid to ask for help. It’s just difficult to know what to ask sometimes.
Tomorrow is the official first day of school. The students walk into the building. And I will be in the library getting the place ready for them. Library orientations will be next week, but maybe a few will be anxious and ready to get their hands on some books on the first day!!
I can only hope.
Today was an eventful day. The local branch manager of the public library stopped by to visit. It was great to chat with a fellow librarian. This is her second year, so maybe she can relate to my anxiety. She offered to team teach at any time. I may take her up on this. It would be great. I definitely want the presence of the public library in our school library. We must unite.
Attempted to get the students updated in the OPAC. I think this was accomplished. Will double check tomorrow.
So many little things to do and it never feels like I get anything accomplished.
